Masa Pengenalan Lingkungan Sekolah (MPLS) SMAN 5 Magelang dibuka bersamaan dengan Upacara Bendera hari pertama masuk sekolah Tahun Ajaran 2025/2026. Upacara pada hari Senin, 14 Juli 2025 berlangsung hikmat dan tertib. Kegiatan Masa Pengenalan Lingkungan Sekolah (MPLS) di SMAN 5 Magelang dipusatkan di Gedung Serba Guna (GSG). Ibu kepala sekolah SMA Negeri 5 Magelang yaitu Ibu Astuti Hadi Rahayu menyampaikan bahwa menghimbau kepada peserta didik baru agar memberikan suatu stimulasi keberhasilan memasuki SMA N 5 Magelang maka harus memiliki semangat, benar-benar fokus, harus menaati kebijakan sekolah akan meningkatkan kelulusan sekolahnya untuk mencapai lulusan yang baik harus ada target. “Dengan hal-hal tersebut, peserta didik harus ada keinginan untuk mendapatkan peringkat, memiliki karakter yang baik untuk meningkatkan kualitas nilai akhir. Maka harus bisa kreativitas, inovatif, kerjasama, beribadahnya harus baik, sesuai 7 kebiasaan anak Indonesia, baik yang masuknya prestasi, afirmasi, maupun domisili,” lanjut Ibu Astuti dalam sambutannya. Tolak ukur SMA N 5 Magelang pintar dan berkarakter serta dapat mengharumkan SMA N 5 Magelang bisa di dalami lewat ekstrakurikuler dan kokurikuler. Kualitas peserta didik akan meningkatkan prestasi yang juga sangat baik.
